The first Seiko Kinetic prototype was revealed at the 1986 Basel Fair and subsequently put in production in 1988. Till date, millions of Kinetic watches has been sold worldwide. It was the first watch to convert kinetic movement into electrical energy. In 1999, chronograph was integrated. Kinetic Perpetual was presented at Baselworld 2005 while Kinetic Direct Drive was brought into the scene in 2007
